Good afternoon, STISD World Scholars Community,
On Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, STISD contacted the Edinburg Police Department in reference to a potential threat of violence that was made against World Scholars. Out of an abundance of caution, security measures were increased in order to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, staff, and visitors. Law enforcement officials took swift action and immediately investigated the potential threat. Through the course of the investigation, a suspect was identified and arrested for Terroristic Threat that same evening. The student arrested was not an STISD student.
The safety and security of the students and staff of STISD will always be a priority. Any and all threats of violence are taken seriously, and will not be tolerated. Safety is a collaborative effort, and we ask that our community members continue to take an active role in reporting any concerns. We thank you for your partnership in this matter.
